This role provides general legal support to PLI, keeps the Legal Manager and the Head, Group Legal and Company Secretariat apprised of legal matters in the assigned region, carries out projects at the request of the Legal Manager and the Head, Group Legal and Company Secretariat, manages the efficient use of external counsel resources (where required) and appropriately collaborates with other members of the Group Legal and Company Secretariat and other supporting functions ( such as Finance, HR, Tax &ampamp Treasury) as well as operating and business divisions (including Supply Chain, Sales, Operations) of the company.The scope is broad and covers commercial/contractual issues, litigation/dispute management, employment/labor law matters, corporate law, intellectual property law, regulatory compliance and proactive risk management advice and training across the legal systems in each relevant country in the assigned region.Key Accountabilities:· Drafting, vetting, negotiating and managing various type of contracts and other documents, in relation to day-to-day operations, business transactions and corporate projects.· Advising on legal compliance for contracts and other documents and ensure the same is in line with the Chinese law.· Providing legal support to internal stakeholders.· Monitor the litigation matters within the assigned region.· Monitor the legal and secretarial budget within the assigned region.· Managing and working alongside external lawyers engaged for project and other corporate matters.· Perform overall secretarial and administrative duties, including:o report to the Board about compliance with the provisions of the Company Law and other applicable laws;o ensure compliance with the applicable secretarial standards and corporate governance requirements and best practices; ando facilitate the convening of meetings and attend Board, committee and general meetings and maintain the minutes of these meetings.Communication and Working Relationship (Internal/External):External – External Lawyers and other relevant authorized bodies and parties.Internal – All departments in PLISB and PLI China.Qualifications &ampamp Education:· Possess a recognised Bachelor Degree or professional Degree in LawSkills/Experience/Knowledge:Minimum 5 years of working experience in legal Company secretarial experience is preferred, but not required.Reporting to the Legal Manager based in Malaysia, candidate shall demonstrate the ability to work independently, set priorities and proactively assume responsibility for projects.Proficiency in spoken and written English and Mandarin.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word.Good inter-personal skills with high integrity.
